| Deneb | Posted on: 2006-10-18 1:32 AM Just an idea that popped into my head when I checked up on Realm. It's an attack skill that requires a small sharp weapon. 'Jugular' Gen 0 - Level 20-30ish Go for the jugular and make your opponents feel the warmth of their own blood. Slits the target's throat to cause incessant bleeding. Usage of the neck becomes so painful that looking or scanning results in more damage. Causes fair damage, long waitstate, target receives damage whenever 'look' or 'scan' has been entered and sometimes the command will fail as well. |
| Deneb | Posted on: 2006-10-18 1:34 AM Oh, and it requires that one wields a stabbing or slashing weapon of, let's say, 8lbs or less. |
| Venom | Posted on: 2006-10-18 10:29 AM I love it! |
| brywing | Posted on: 2006-10-18 6:22 PM sounds good, 4lbs or less sounds better for the weapon. With a large chance to fail if you're in combat already but a great chance to land if they are caught unawares. Also maybe this could do a medium initial damage and continue doing a slightly lesser version of that same damage every couple seconds like a poision until the next tick unless you recieved a heal spell or certain heal skills. (ex bandage wouldnt work, medic would) |
| Deneb | Posted on: 2006-10-18 11:16 PM Actually, I thought more about the weight of the weapon. And, I don't think the weight should be a requirement to use the skill, but instead being a factor of its success chance. |
| Venom | Posted on: 2006-11-07 6:41 PM Hell yea! |
| Cast | Posted on: 2006-11-19 1:22 PM i guess casting a spell would also cause damage to the user. since it sort of requires the use of the neck (throat, close enough) i don't think Mshield can prevent this, since bleeding has nothing to do with ur shield. right? Cast |
| Deneb | Posted on: 2006-12-09 12:56 AM No. Mshield should be applied to its damage, that's just stupid if it didn't. |
| Cast | Posted on: 2006-12-12 8:25 PM i meant that the bleeding would have nothing to do with mshield, but the attack should still be blocked. or is bleeding already seperate from the mshield already? i don't remember... |
| Deneb | Posted on: 2006-12-12 10:39 PM From what I know, any damage is first applied to mana before hit points when mshield is active. It should stay that way. |
| Ezrin | Posted on: 2006-12-13 10:45 AM Ok I'm gonna have to disagree with that one Deneb. While mana shield does currently affect all damage i don't think it should. The help file says "The mana shield spell allows the Mage to throw an aura of protection up which uses the Mage's mana to absorb damage from attacks." So I think side effect of damage should still do whatever they would do to a player without mana shield. As this damage is not from an attack but rather blood oozing from the mage. Now if the attacks was blocked I would agree with you, a la priz sphere. That being said if mana shield is set at 100% I could be convince that damage is blocked and consequently the mage's delicate flesh is not penetrated and thus no bleeding would occur. Anything less than that though I said bleed damage is assigned as normal. |
| brywing | Posted on: 2006-12-16 1:22 PM an interesting variation on this would involve slitting a throat. this would interfere with casting classes because of sound components and greatly interfere with bards since they dont just speak one word they speak many, esp sonic attacks like scream... imagine screaming with your throat cut... |
