Class Evolutions | |

Gasraidh | Posted 16 Sep 2004 OK! After going on a "try new mud spree" I found a system that I really liked. A mud that i played for a bit had it set up that once you remort, your class name changed from one thing to another, you kept all your base class skills and gained another. Much like our remort now, however what you remorted as was dependant on your base class, so a Good knight became a Champion, and things of the sort. I think that it would be really cool if tempus adopted something somewhat similar to this, so I took the liberty in writing up some stuff. Once a class reaches gen 5, they could be considered to have gained enough "training" in their class to move to the next step of their proffession. So for instance, like mentioned above Good Knight goes to Champion, Mage to Sage, or Wizard etc. At gen 5 all classes could get a small remort skil set that defines their new level of "specialization" Here's what I (after talking with some people) have drawn up Good Knight -> Champion (or Crusader) Champions could easily get some group skills/spells that the bard is currently sporting. I kind of see Good Knights as the people leading wars against the forces of evil, so to see them have spells that give confidence, and maybe some other things like Bravery, Valor. A skill that i really thought would add a unique aspect to the Champion was a skill called charge While leading a group, the knight could charge a mob, with all the group following him, and they all instigate battle with a full round of attacks. So everyone would be fighting the mob but they would have a HUGE advantage hitting him with an assload of attacks off the bat. Gen 5 Evil Knight -> Inquisitor/Death Lord, whatever Spells like "ghastly image" which prevents mobs from aggroing against the Knight due to fear of them would be really cool to see. That's all i could think of, except maybe something like a skill where they could ram something with a shield. Thief -> Mercenary Honestly, after thinking about what I posted to faithless and talking to Istari this morning, I came to the conclusion that the only real difference between a thief and a mercenary is that a mercenary is just a thief with a paycheck. As far as realism goes, thats really the only difference between thief and merc. Granted we aren't shooting for realism here but still it could be really cool to see this work. Skills like "throat slice" "surveillance" and other things would really just be awesome to see. Good Cleric -> Bishop, Priest, again whatever. Honestly it's hard to try and think of new things a cleric should get. They have so much, this ones open to suggestion. Evil Cleric -> Necromancer Summon Horde - similar to legion, only they are skeletons. i don't know most of my effort was put into Champion skills, so any ideas for this would be nice as well. OK I'm tired of typing, I'll finish the rest of this up later. |
Istari | Posted 16 Sep 2004 I am totally all for this, all the work needed by the coding staff notwithstanding hehe. I would say this however, maybe a player doesnt want their character to evolve for some reason. We could make it so that each time someone remorts, they need to give the remorter a special item. If they do so, then at gen 5, the remorter can cast some sort of spell using the 5 items you collected, and it then changes your base from whatever they are to it's evolutionary equivalent. If a player decides at any time they do not want to evolve their base class, then they can simply choose not to collect those 5 special items and give it to the remorter. Their base class would then stay unchanged. Just a thought to allow for varying likes/dislikes. Istari |
Istari | Posted 16 Sep 2004 oh yeah and to keep players from being too powerful, make it so if they evolved, they wouldnt multi-class., They would have to rely solely on the power of their new buffer evolved class (so the evolved classes would need to have nice skills/spells). |
