Monk skill idea | |

Ash | Posted 14 Jun 2005 Just thought of an idea that would be nifty for monks. Where drinking and getting intoxicated is usually not a good thing, have a skill to where monks actually get bonuses for being drunk. Some sort of drunken monk technique. Guess the skill could kinda be like Berserk. Just an idea, any comments or ideas about it? |
Merriam | Posted 18 Jul 2005 Drunkenness gives damage reduction, and had for awhile, but at some point there were some maladies attached to it, which I believe Reptile (in a mortal form) reminded me of the other day, which include fleeing into walls, vertigo, being feared, ego-whip-like convulsions, and other attribute and ability reductions. Cast | Posted 8 Feb 2006 I think monks should get some weapon skills, cuz chinese monks are able to wield basically anything, some that i heard of shoot feathers like arrows. so i think monks should be able to speciallize their attacks to one type of weapon, but get a huge bonus from that type of weapon, but as a result, lose the ability to use anyother type of weapon. |
Narcissus | Posted 11 Feb 2006 Monks actually used to be able to specialize in different weapon types. That was not too long ago taken away, and instead given to the barbarian. Don't try too much to compare Tempus anything with real world anything. As you can point out monks that can wield anything. I can point out monks that would die before ever throwing a punch (let alone grab a weapon) in a fight because they refuse to harm any living thing. You just have to take the Tempus monk for what the Tempus monk is. The same goes for anything Tempus. |
Nevermore | Posted 11 Feb 2006 Narc has a point, but look at that character David Carridan played on the Kung Fu show. He was a monk who only fought when he had to. And he had no trouble whoopin anyone with just his bare hands. Thats how I picture the Tempus monk. But Narc is right. Do not compare Tempus with real life… we come here to escape real life and if we made Tempus match real life, you would have to eat and drink a lot more often, and you would get fat or die of thirst and hunger.. and thats just to start. If you think monks should wield weapons or be proficient in weapons, you are really missing the point of what it means to be a monk (on Tempus, remember!). With their BARE fists, they do more damage than any character (of equal status) with a weapon. Why would you WANT to wield a weapon??? |
Dyne | Posted 12 Feb 2006 Cause weapons are cool… Duh! Come on get with the program!! |
Nevermore | Posted 12 Feb 2006 You're right.. what was I thinking? |
Dyne | Posted 13 Feb 2006 Who knows!? I doubt nothing even knows that one! |
