Riding skill - does anyone use this? | |
---|---|
Tower | Posted 21 Apr 2006 The riding skills seems cool but underutilized. Most everyone on the mud has some form of wings currently and can just float themselves to and fro at their leisure so why bother riding anything…right? What if riding was altered so that your mount could help attack and offer some damage protection as well. If you think about a knight on horseback vs a knight on foot…the knight on horseback is gonna destroy the on foot knight. He's got some distance between him and his opponent, high ground advantage, and speed. Now imagine if the knight was riding a fire-breathing dragon, or a woad rider a la LOTR: Two Towers, or the Tarrasque! (ok maybe not). At this point there's no need to ever use the skill…especially when you can't ride into a building in town and need to dismount all the time. |
Kitano | Posted 22 Apr 2006 This is an often talked about subject in knight threads. Mounted knights should be awesome. Remort skill to summon steed? |
Tereus | Posted 22 Apr 2006 I agree. Riding would be very neat. However, I don't think you should be able to ride a dragon and fly around or something like that. Inless maybe good knight could get a spell to summon a good alinged mob to ride and evil would get a spell to summon a evil mob. With each gen the mob could become a little more powerful. However these mobs should not be to powerful. |
Kakarot | Posted 22 Apr 2006 i would love the skill/spell for being able to call a steed/dragon or something like that for me to mount and ride… like tereus said it has been kicked around for a while now in knight threads and it makes the most sense for knight to have it…but i dont think that they have time atm to be putting in changes to any class cause they are super busy on new/revamping zones to do much at all kakarot |
Cast | Posted 22 Apr 2006 these are all the mounts that i can think of… horse, cougar, elephant, pagasus, falcon, wyvern, dragon. maybe that'll be enough? feel free to add more.(i think other classes can have mounts as well…:P Cast |
Bushido | Posted 27 Apr 2006 it dont make sense for other classes to be mounted during battle and such… Barbs and Knights are the ones it makes the most sense for because both of those classes are big battle types of classes, i couldnt imaging a mage gettin bonuses for being mounted. and how sneaky could you be on a horse or whatever as a thief. just dont make sense |
Cast | Posted 28 Apr 2006 well, gandulf in lord of the rings has a super fast horse, so maybe mages uses a horse to travel and to run away from battles easier. |
Narcissus | Posted 28 Apr 2006 Or we could just get rid of all the equipment that gives flight. |
Storm | Posted 2 May 2006 What this skill really needs is a mechanical bull somewhere, so that you can practice it extensively. |
Deneb | Posted 2 Sep 2006 And then add a new affect called 'hernia'. |
Brywing | Posted 3 Sep 2006 or t-hernia… |
Cast | Posted 4 Sep 2006 how about when mounted, the player is able to deal out armor piercing damage, but the player will not be able to perform double attack or triple attack? but another good side is that u will have an increase amount of chance to dodge enemy attacks. also it should have a slight chance of causing confusion. reason being: to effectively use mounts, u should be zipping through ur target, and pecking at them making them get dizzy and stuff, right? |
Deneb | Posted 4 Sep 2006 Even though it would be cool, I don't see it as necessary to change the riding skill to affect combat. It was intended for a means of low levels to travel around quicker without the penalties of lost movement points. That is why it's trainable at level 1. |
Narcissus | Posted 5 Sep 2006 Realistically the "mount" has alot of potential to just be another piece of equipment for knights. Not that it isn't a cool idea but I havn't heard any ways on how to make it be what we would all like it to be were it in. |
