New Locust Regeneration | |
---|---|
Deneb | Posted 7 Jul 2007 Let us begin by seeing what happened to the mage's gen 5 spell. First, all spells will no longer redirect mana toward the caster, only regular attacks and low damaging "touch" spells. Second, any mana received will be halved of what it was originally. Lastly, the amount of mana regained will not be shown. Playing a mage myself, I can understand that locust regeneration made mages what they are today. Perhaps the spell was too good and I understand why it locust would be nerfed. But, the first two changes together hit me hard. Personally, I don't mind reducing the amount of mana drained, but not allowing normal spells to drain mana is ridiculous. It's as if one is saying that mages are suppose to have high damroll for this spell to be even remotely good. I never got my damroll above 30 because of certain trade offs that were just not worth it. The most damroll I've seen on a mage is around 70 (not going to count Red). I think the new change is uncalled for. Why? Mages are not overpowered. A well built class with good synergy, yes. |
Monkeymotz | Posted 7 Jul 2007 I agree with Deneb! Those two changes made a lot of difference. If you lowered how much mana was taken I'd be fine with that but adding no normal spells?! Kinda crazy there…this has made me lose some of the thrill of playing mage! And why can't we see how much mana we get? I like to be informed… |
Eternal | Posted 7 Jul 2007 I also agree with Monkeymotz and Deneb. Wow, alot of good things have happened with tempus but this is a horrible move. This is going to make tempus alot less enjoyable for alot of players. I don't want to be to rude, buy this new "Mage" nerf is just out of line imo. |
Wrath | Posted 7 Jul 2007 Another guy with a mage chiming in. I cast locust regeneration now, and continuing to cast my bread and butter, lightning bolt, I LOSE mana. Thats right, my mana decreases. So what good exactly is this spell anymore? I could see reducing the amount of mana you get back from the spell, but changing it so drastically really isn't called for. Really hurts the fun that the mage class has to offer, and as far as mages being too powerful, I've picked up my mage's pieces too often to agree with that. We beg the gods for mercy! |
Azimuth | Posted 7 Jul 2007 Fine, fine. I'll change it back. Sheesh. |
Deneb | Posted 7 Jul 2007 I feel like Weight of the World has been sang to me. |
Deneb | Posted 8 Jul 2007 It's been recently changed back to what it was originally. I do like the original Locust, that is what I am a bit torn. The change was drastic and brought upon a lot of bitching, yet in the change I saw something that made sense. Locust Regen should not show the amount of mana regained, same for vamp regen. Most games such as Tempus (make a character and build him/her up) show numbers in their damages but Tempus uses words instead. This fact means a lot to me, it tells me that Tempus is a game but it's also very much like a story. That being said, I don't think Locust and Vampiric Regen should be an exception. A suggest to that thought: Instead of showing the amount regained, show it with a "small amount of mana" or "large amount…" just as doing 1 damage to a mob will result in tickling them. =) |
Eternal | Posted 9 Jul 2007 I agree. Just like I'm sure we can all agree that Azimuth is here for improving tempus. |
