Feign vs Retreat | |

Deneb | Posted 12 Sep 2007 First of all, the only use I see feign has is to stop battle and use skills that can only be used when not fighting. But retreat does the same thing except you have to walk back in. And it seems to me that retreating and walking back is less waitstate. So when is feign death better to use over retreat? When you don't want to be walking into other rooms because of dts or you're simply trapped in one room. Those situations are rare, however. So here I am, suggesting change: Reduce the waitstate of feign death to less than what it takes to retreat+walk back in. Why? Feign doesn't have much practical use. Feign comes with risks greater than retreat (waitstate along with being on the floor in the same room as an angry mob, also failing means not stopping battle but still on the ground). And retreat still has good uses for thieves. |
Rahvin | Posted 12 Sep 2007 For PK it would be interesting…Monk/thief… |
Tereus | Posted 5 Oct 2007 I have to agree with Deneb 100%. Feign has always been something I never learned. Even with a gen 10 thief it works alot better to retreat and come back in. Speaking of which, circle has also changed. In the past you could circle a mob if it was fighting someone else and not start a fight. Now you have to cease/circle time and time again. |
Azimuth | Posted 11 Oct 2007 Sounds good to me. The wait state will be shortened dramatically in next reboot. |
Deneb | Posted 11 Oct 2007 Sweet deal. Much obliged! |
Tereus | Posted 11 Oct 2007 Tempus can really change now that we have a great imm staff who understands points that the morts bring up. Before tempus was a entire differant story. Now maybe it will be good to learn feign. Thanks Azi! |
Cronos | Posted 12 Oct 2007 We have an imm staff that listens? Cool. Always good to see improvements. As for Feign vs. Retreat. Theres a lot of times when you CANT retreat or when retreating just results in a mob following you/moving away. If youre low on move points retreat also sucks. For example, if youre running Font, those rats cant see invis. Feign works perfectally because if you retreat theres like a 35% chance theyre not going to be there. Course, I havnt really been able to play in… like… a year or two….. or three. So things probably changed. |
Deneb | Posted 12 Oct 2007 You are correct, sir! However I did state that these events are truly rare and so feign definitely does not prove quite useful. |
