Riffe | Posted 21 Apr 2008 Honestly, I do like my mercenary, even though I only get the remort skills to use as parlor tricks to annoy my clanmates. My thoughts on Remort Skills: SNIPE - Okay, it's nice to use to lure enemies. It's also fun to shoot at low-HP mobs/characters. Other than that, it's seems to be just for show. Not to mention, it's an expensive habit. CHEMISTRY - Once again, parlor trick. I've lit my clannies on fire more than I have created useful potions. I understand its practical use though, considering some potions are HEAVY when carried in bulk. Why not carry half the weight with double the effects of certain potions? GOING TO DIS TO TRAIN - Sucks, if you're trying to go alone. What next? The remort phys trainer located at the top of Lunia? My ideas (feel free to bash later via a thoughtful reply): SNIPE - Maybe snipe could have a bleed effect? Having a bullet lodged in your body should have some kind of detriment. Especially if they cost 300k a pop… CLOSE QUARTERS COMBAT - Gen 4 Level 30 - You'd think a mercenary could know a thing or two about defense if they're so combat proficient. CQC could be a passive dodge, i.e. tumbling, uncanny dodge. You ANNIHILATE Riffe with you pocketknife! Riffe swats your attack away with his forearm! GUTS - Gen 5 Level 30 - This skill increases in potency as the mercenary continues to take a beating. Activated after 60% health or so, the mercenary begins to gain speed and a small amount of damage reduction. This can change the style of mercenary play. Do we wimpy? Or do we fight through the pain? Regular skills: Wrench and Garrote - Why garrote when you can wrench? Garrote involves a wire-like instrument in order to choke a victim to death. Tempus's garrote tosses about 100-200 damage to the victim with a cool death message if you can actually kill them. You're better off wrenching, which does more damage anyway. Idea: Garrote messes up your ability to speak. I'd imagine if someone went up behind me with a piano wire and tried to choke me, I'd have some issues breathing, speaking and such. This could be extended into casting interruption, etc. Anyway, that's all I have. I actually don't mind having two mostly useless remort skills, considering I'm up and running at level 38. Riffe |
Eternal | Posted 28 Apr 2008 Mercenary could always use some work. I would like to see snipe much more powerful but ranged attacks have always been hard to code and make balanced. As for chemistry, I think that is more of a physic type skill. |
