Where is mudfest.. | |

Evangeline | Posted 13 Jan 2004 Since Risque hasn't put this up yet, I figure I will give it a try. I am no longer holding mudfest. After 4 years of it, I'm tired of playing hostess and want to sit back and not have to cook for everyone. So Risque has offered to take over. She lives in (East?) Peoria IL. Although this is slightly more convenient than PA for those in central and western US, a vast majority of attendies were on the east coast (that also might be due to the location, who knows). What she is considering is renting a beach house that everyone contributes to for a weekend. Its possible to even find them for $500/weekend and that would run, if enough people attended, only a few dollars. It would probably be more expensive than if we went to her house but probably a lot more fun. I know she was looking into Ocean City MD. So what are the opinions on this? Again, I'm sure she'll also have the only 18 and up rule but those who are of age, are very welcome to attend. |
Wish | Posted 13 Jan 2004 Heya. This is Wishie. I'm totally up for Risque's house or the beach. If we get the beach, i'm bringing my pooch, Zuka. She has never been to the beach. I've got cashflow as well, so i'll throw down for the condo for all ya'll. Peace and hair grease.

Risque | Posted 14 Jan 2004 Hey Y'all!!! K…here's the scoop on mudfest as we have it so far. We have two options. 1) We can have it at my house. If we have it here…there is a small water park, the riverboat casino, and some pretty decent bars downtown in Peoria. My house would prolly be cheaper… i think in the past we've done $15 per person for food. 2) We can have it at the beach. I have been looking into Ocean City, Maryland. It's a great beach with a boardwalk with all the nifty boardwalk entertainments. There is also an amusement park on the boardwalk. This option while very cool, would be more expensive. I've found some condos as cheap as between $400 - $500 for the weekend. The ads say they house 10 people so we'd prolly have to get 2. The average cost per person is gonna be about $40/person(assuming we have the usual number of attendees)…plus we're still gonna have to pay for food. I'm happy with either option personally… just lemme know what we're gonna do cause if we're getting a condo…we're prolly gonna have to make some sort of reservations soon to get a good price. I've been researching condo prices at: http://www.ocean-city.com/ in case anyone wants to go there and look. You can also goto google and get a ton of options there. If we're going with the condo we also need to know how many peoples we're gonna have. Love y'all, Risque |
Risque | Posted 14 Jan 2004 MMMMk…. forgot a couple things… If we have it at my house the minimum attending age is gonna have to be raised to 21 cause i have a police officer living next door and if this mudfest is anything like past fests…there's gonna be alcohol. Secondly WHEN is mudfest… We're thinking either August 6,7,8 or August 13,14,15. That is of course assuming that those days work for everyone. Smooches, Risque |
Drom | Posted 14 Jan 2004 I'm thinkin Beach house! I think enough of us have the cashflow that we can handle this. Besides, it means I'm WAY more likely to attend. (Since I can drive there easier). As for getting 2? Unlikely. We've crammed enough people in Eva's place and it is only rated for 4-6 people. The main problem would probably be a lack of internet. I mean.. who doesn't MUD while at mudfest???? Drom |
Fyryn | Posted 15 Jan 2004 While going to OC, MD is easier… the expense is not something i can really put up. right now i'm broker than shit and have an ass job that i'm trying to replace along with two cons (one of which i'm working at so i'll get reimbursed but need to front the hotel fees at first and hand in receipts and such), mudfest and spring ninja camp to somehow pay for. yes, it's a small amount to pay for fun (the mudfest price that is) but some of us will have a hard time contributing past food/liquor costs. i spent a ton more last year on liquor thanks to my better job. if those of you with real incomes are willing to take up the cost of the condo for the weekend… i'll do my best to save up enough money to toss a little extra into the food supplies and such. i can try to foot part of the condo bill and will try to, but that's not something i can guarantee given my current situation. on the plus side, the OC, MD thing would be great since i'll probably be in school taking a ton of art classes over the summer so i'll be hella bogged down with work and hauling to OC, MD is much easier given that i'll have to wrangle my car down here to Philly probably for the summer anyway. either spot would be fine as far as getting there goes. would probably have less actually being at the fest time if it were at Risque's place, but it all depends on what happens with school this summer. as for the dates, early august would be better. the later days are encroaching on summer term finals and i really don't need to spend a weekend drunk that close to finals… not with the way my grades have been. btw… i can't wait for mudfest. i miss chillin with you guys! |
Nevermore | Posted 15 Jan 2004 Oh if Drom is going to be there.. forget it! (j/k love ya, Bill and can't wait to get ahold of the riding crop again wink wink) I am suitably happy with either place. I used to live in Ocean City and there is a ton of trouble for us to get into there… it should be a lot of fun (providing we keep an eye on Wish :) As far as expenses, well… gonna have to get the word from Lenon (aka Sugar Daddy) on that one. But any way it goes… I cant wait to see everyone again. I do miss everyone. :)) Raven |
Risque | Posted 20 Jan 2004 MMMk…slight problem…I'm having a real hard time finding anyplace we can go at the beach that has weekend rentals and isn't already booked…. If anyone else can find something…lemme know. I've been able to find week long rentals but that's gonna be more expensive. If we're unable to find anything… My house is still available. Carl even suggested if we have it here make a quick run to Six Flags which is only like 2 hours from here. Lemme know if y'all find anything. Cindy |
Kakorat | Posted 21 Jan 2004 Hey everyone im kinda new to this whole mudfest thingy, but it sounds like alot of fun cause i always up for meeting new ppl…ill try to find somethin on condos cause im only 18 and cant attend if its at risques place…im just sayin i dont know if this is for everyone or not…i would sure like to know tho…and if i do end up goin raven will show me the ropes wink kako |
Risque | Posted 27 Feb 2004 Ok… The decision has been made… Mudfest 2004 will be held at a cabin in the Pocono Mountains as this is an affordable and fun location which is fairly centrally located for most of the people who have attended in the past. The cabin we are getting can be seen at this website: http://www.cyberrentals.com/PA/SarvPAPO.html. Drom is making the reservations. Everyone will need to pay him. I believe he wishes to collect money at the door. We will have more info on the hows and wheres of money collecting later. The cost per person will be anywhere from $50 - $75, depending on how many people we have show up. If you are over 18 and would like to attend… please throw a post up here and let us know 1) who you are and 2) if you're bringing someone with you(ie ya bringing a date/spouse/whatever) Once we get a good idea of who is coming we'll discuss menu and other nifty mudfestly activities! Can't wait to see everyone! Hugs! |
Risque | Posted 27 Feb 2004 OK so ya might need to know when mudfest is too. We are planning on August 6-9 for the fest this year. If I forgot any other important info somebody lemme know :) |
Wish | Posted 1 Mar 2004 You know Jimmy and I will be there.. with bells on! |
Drom | Posted 9 Mar 2004 Update. I wanted to see the property in real life before we rented it, and it got scooped up before hand. There's only one other property with the appropriate sleep-space in the Poconos area, so I've initiated contact with the home-owner to determine if they have the appropriate weekend available. If you want to check it out, here's the page. http://www.cyberrentals.com/PA/Mcco4PAPO.html Looks like it will be a hundred bucks cheaper. I've asked about the pet deposit, so Wish and Nothing could bring their dogs. In any case, it looks like the total will be about $600, so if we get enough people we can get the cost down to under $50 a head not including food expenses. Drom |
Darkesoul | Posted 9 Mar 2004 New place looks good to us… let us know whatcha find out and we'll be there. |
