Armor Class | |

Brywing | Posted 10 May 2006 I was wondering about the benefits of armor class past -300 ac. Does armor class stop figuring into chance to hit at -300 or -500? or never? when does armor class stop giving damage reduction? starts at -300 with 1% per -5 armor class I think, does the benefit end at -400? -500? never? |
Tereus | Posted 13 May 2006 As far as I know. It seems as if -250 is the end for armor class in terms of if they will hit you or not. There also is alot more factors that go into play. Blur, evade, and other skills/spells. As far as damage reduction is concerned. It seems as if anything past -300 starts to give damage redux. Someone once told me for every -2ac past -300 it one damage redux. This is not true. The ammount of ac per dam redux is much higher. Through some test it seems as if every -10ac = 1dam redux. I am not sure if there is a end to the armor class however I would not be surprised if you could gain 75% dam redux from ac alone. With this i theroy you would need to hit -1050 ac to have 75% dam redux with no other redux. This is taking in account ac AFTER -300. 10x75= -750ac 10 is the number of ac you need to get one dam redux, and 75 is how many dam redux you want. Examples of how to get 75% damage reduction: Ranger/Physic gen 10 level 49. stoneskin 25% l attice 10% heroin needles for !pain = 25% ocean blue potion for sanc = 15% (neutral gains less redux for sanc) This = 75% dam redux If you are missing sanc you would need to gain 15% from ac. This means if your ac is -450 that would make up for sanc and you would still have 75%. 15% dam redux = -150ac after -300. |
Tereus | Posted 13 May 2006 The biggest factor in not getting hit however does not relie on ac and skills/spells alone. THAC: stat is where most of your dodging comes from. THAC = to hit armor class. THAC can not get better with eq, it is totaly class dependant. |
Rahvin | Posted 16 May 2006 i believe you mean Thac0. And. every 5 ac after -300 is 1% damage reduction. So -400ac, 20% reduction. -500ac, and so on. |
Elric | Posted 16 May 2006 THAC0 = to hit armor class 0. It has NOTHING to do with you dodging. It's a carry over from Dungeons and Dragons and it's all about YOU hitting people. It meant that to hit an armor class of 0, you would have to roll your THAC0 or above in order to hit them on a 20 sided dice. Once again, THAC0 has nothing to do with you dodging anything :P |
Tereus | Posted 21 May 2006 Thanks for clearing that up. I always thought your THAC: had something to do with the target hitting you. Shrug |
