Tell me about your past.... | |

Ezrin | Posted 11 Sep 2006 I've been a player for a long time and I have some ideas about what the past needs but I would like to hear from the player base. This is your mud and we are here to make it a more enjoyable place, within reason of course. Things I want to know: which areas do you like, which areas have problems, what level ranges do you feel we need more areas in (e.g. low level mid level or high level). What types of eq would you like to see ( back eq, good align 2 handed slashers, etc)? What type of areas would you like to see (e.g. A Ranger Outpost, An Elven City,)? Ezrin Past Arch |
Kitano | Posted 11 Sep 2006 I think there is plenty out there already. There are hundreds of zones, but players run maybe 10 at the most with any regularity. Out of all the low level zones out there, I can't think of many newbies who go outside of ECU, KKI, hobs, halflings, ECNP. High level players hit up Immoth and La Mogra. Money runs in KKI, MVC, Abyss. As much as this is a Role Playing Game, players are not so interested in exploration unless there are rewards. What I would like to see is much more variety in gameplay. Having great room descriptions and layout is important, but innovation is needed. Cybertech is one of the best examples I've seen of an innovative zone. We need more things like this! And not just insanely hard zones like Cybertech, but newbie zones should encourage exploration as well. In fact, all zones should. A player shouldn't be able to discover every secret his first time through, he should be discovering new things even a month later. This is quite a task, and it's a lot to ask of builders. But with the wide selection of tools availible with the incredible progs code, a lot is possible. Perhaps a builder could be designated a prog specialist to whom other builders consult for progs to add to their zones. Anything to move away from the monotony of "kill troll, move, kill troll, move, kill troll king, loot corpse, recall" that a great deal of zones seem to have fallen into. |
Narcissus | Posted 12 Sep 2006 I dunno. I agree there are zones like this for sure. But alot of zones are very interactive even if there wasn't a mob in it. The zones that are popular however aren't like this. The popular zones are also the xp /gold McDonalds of Tempus. It's borderline drive-through window leveling. A popular mid-level zone, ecnp, used to have a search to get in where you could shower and get the radimm needles. You had to 'find' that area, and it wasn't exactly hard to find either. When the zone was revamped, all that searching went away and the shower and needles just sit out there now. Doesn't really fit the theme of the zone, as if that were so available there wouldn't be a bunch of mutants and spirits of dead workers due to radiaton exposure would there. I don't mean to be a stick in the mud, cybertech is cool, but it is only visited due to the items contained therein. Take those out, and the zone can be as cool as you want and nobody is going to go because there are other zones that allow the player to be lazier and reap just as much reward. Compare the difficulty of KKI to other zones and then compare the money and xp in KKI to the same zones. It's like the fat kid on the see-saw in elementary school. On the upside we got some new arches now so I'm optimistic that they will be able to either fatten up the thin kid or put the fat kid on a diet and get the see-saw back into the swing of things. |
Caden | Posted 13 Sep 2006 As the resident unknown/non-respected poster on realm, I'll go ahead and waste my breath :x There have never been enough High gen zones. Watching Oddy get ripped away seriously left a gapping hole in my soul.. which to this day causes periods of intense vomiting. Oddy with a few updates as the mud became updated would have been fine. Good day, |
Yakuza | Posted 15 Sep 2006 Im going to have to agree with Caden, high gen zones. Everyone at high gen/level goes to Dracharnos (maybe), and La'mogra. I've never leveled a high gen char at immoth, but that seems to be the latest craze. But since your talking about past, I can't think of any high gen zones in the past. |
Tereus | Posted 20 Sep 2006 Nevermore pointed out that Oddy doesn not fit into tempus. I guess a few high up people choose not to bring back Oddy. Oddy is a dream of the past. I personally would love to see Oddy revamped and put back into play. New eq, new mobs, and more players excited about exploring a new revamped zone. |
Narcissus | Posted 26 Sep 2006 There's an awful lot of zones that don't make sense. How about the military base in the past, using tanks and jeeps, bulldozers and projectile guns. 1990 anybody? Why is the land outside EC supposed to be this great nuclear wasteland but the beautiful ecu just happens to exist in the middle of it. Maybe it's the junkyard across the street from the college campus that makes it logical… Maybe I'll go hang out in that Eastern forest of foilage in the middle of the wasteland and think it over… |
Nevermore | Posted 1 Oct 2006 As you know, the imms currently working on the world base as a whole are not the imms who started it. It has been handed off several times. We are the ones stuck cleaning it up. We are only so many people with so little time. We are trying to get it to congeal perfectly, but that is a lot of work. If you have such a problem with it, shut your pie-hole and do some work for a change. :P |
Narcissus | Posted 4 Oct 2006 Speaking of pie will you bake one if I come over to visit :D |
