Item Database
Aconite Posted 29 Sep 2010

Hello all!

I'm currently in the development stage of creating a script / database that will store as much information as you can give it.

What it is: A script that parses the ID information from the Identify spell and stores all relevant information about the item

What you can/will be able to do: Search the database based on: 1) Item Name 2) Item affects 3) ! or + classes 4) Type of Item (Weapon, Portal, Potion, etc)

What can I do to help?! Currently I need people to throw ID text at it so I can cover my bases so that it correctly parses anything you give it.

Give it a try at: http://tempus.zeekzack.com/test.html

Thanks! -Aconite

What are you doing about the variation of stats on items?

Aconite Posted 29 Sep 2010

My idea is that if someone posts the same item (It will be based off the item name) that if the item already exists in the database, it will compare the stats.

If one stat is higher than the other, it will take the one with the higher stats. That way, through multiple iterations, the item ID with the highest stat will make it's way to the "top" if you will.

I'm also taking suggestions on how to do things, if you can think of a better way.

Update****

I'm currently accepting items to be imported into the database.

HOWEVER: It is very fragile, so please confirm to the rules of importing data into it. I'm trying to make it robust, but I am new at this.

If you find any errors, please let me know. Next step is Searching, and then after that is the updating phase so we can catch for random stats.

Thank you.

Awesome!! Careful with just posting the "ideal" item, though. I think information on the worst-case load should be logged as well in order to give a sense of how difficult/precious a perfect load could be. Moreover, blessing/vestmenting sometimes can take advantage of a bad/worse load.

"If one stat is higher than the other, it will take the one with the higher stats. That way, through multiple iterations, the item ID with the highest stat will make it's way to the "top" if you will."

It's not doing that.

Aconite Posted 2 Oct 2010

I know it's not doing that Deneb :P

That's what I hope it does in the future. I'm still learning PHP / mySQL so give me some time to learn / do more development.

As it stands now, if an item has the same name, it will NOT import it into the database. I need to learn how to break things down from the stats, and compare them. That way, the "best-worst" item will show up. Which means the best (Highest damroll, highest stats) and also the worst (the highest negative's, worst affects, etc) show up.

This is going to take some processing, but once I learn how to do this, hopefully I'll be able to get it up.

Until then, feel free to import more data!

Thanks, -Aconite

So what will happen when someone inputs both IDs of a non-enchanted and an enchanted heavy black amulet?

Will that produce 94 along with -sav_psi?

Aconite Posted 2 Oct 2010

That's a good point. If that's the case, if I'm thinking about the problem right the amulet will show the original stats (prior enchantment) and it will show the enchanted stats. It will show everything.

Under that same idea, it'll have to be an understanding from the community that if you see something like that, that the item can't have all of those stats. The enchantment will obviously override anything that's on the item.
