Diamond | Posted 29 Dec 2011 Hello! I came across a curious shop with a lot of neat looking items for sale, but they all cost quest points. Unfortunately, I have been told that quests are rare to come by, and they also require 6 players on and an immortal who is free to run the quest to have it. I read in the help files that you could earn a quest point after remorting past gen 10. Perhaps it may be good to have some items available at a cost of gold or cash? I think it would be great to get the rename redemption ticket to personalize equipment. It may also motivate new players to stick around and have more fun. Maybe we could have a quest point cost equivalent of $50 to $100 million gold/cash? It would make it much more achievable for new players to get these cool items, and a tangible goal? Another idea would be if we could adjust the quest requirements to 4 players? That way it would be fun and quest points could be earned. What are your thoughts on this? |
Gneissic | Posted 30 Dec 2011 I believe that before this "Divine Exotica" shop came about, players with quest points had to wait until an immortal was on before they could redeem their quest points for items. The store was a way to allow players to redeem items without having an immortal on. For having some items available for cash instead of quest points, I think it depends on the item. I think some items were designed to be rare (this applies more to oedits than to what can be bought in the store) and purchased only with quest points. For rename tickets, however, I think it's a good idea to have them purchasable with cash, especially if it would help more players have fun on this MUD. I feel that the price should be slightly less than 50 million. As for quests, not only are people required, but people's attention is required. Some players don't have time to play, and are only on for a limited amount of time. Even if they happen to be on when an immortal calls a quest, they may not be able to commit to the quest because they have to leave within a few minutes. One solution could be to have quests that don't require players to be on all the time (scavenger quests, for example). However, these quests are generally not as fun as quests that require all players to be online and paying attention. I hope I didn't kill anyone's creativity on how to make the MUD better. Please keep coming up with ideas! |
Diamond | Posted 3 Jan 2012 I think it's a great idea to make the item rename available. It gives a fun way to customize a person's equipment and also adds a tangible bonus that we can work towards by saving up gold. This would be similar to purchasing our own home in the game. That way we can make a mark in the world and have our own niche. Perhaps just like when the Divine Exotica was created to reduce the burden on the imms, perhaps a new mob could be created that is similar to the repairman, and could then help with renames based on price. Perhaps $10 to $20 million would be a better price. We have 24 slots of equipment (26, but 4 refers to the left/right hands, shield/weapon/held/second weapon) and that would be $240million to fully customize (at $10million, or $480million at $20million) What are your thoughts? |
